We welcome new patients to our practice.

What happens at my first visit?

At your first visit, our friendly reception team will welcome you and ask you to fill in a medical history. Please bring details of any medications you take. You will then be escorted to one of our comfortable treatment rooms. Your dentist will take time to discuss your needs, concerns and wishes before even inspecting your teeth... to us you are more than just a mouth!

Your dentist will then recline the chair and check the following:

• jaw joint for clicking or soreness
• soft tissues of the mouth, for irregularities including an oral cancer screening
• gums, for bleeding or signs of gum disease
• teeth, for signs of decay, broken fillings, tooth wear
• any prosthesis such as dentures, crowns and bridges you may have
• occlusion (the way your teeth bite together)

We may take Xrays of your teeth if necessary, and if there is no further treatment required we may carry out a clean and polish.

If treatment is required, will we will be sure to explain fully the options, reasons, and benefits in language you can understand. We use models and diagrams wherever possible to help show you what we mean, and we encourage your questions! At the end of the appointment we will provide you with an itemised treatment plan with a detailed estimate of costs. If costs change during treatment, such as a filling breaking on a different tooth, we will keep you informed.
